According to White Plains Hospital, the rapper "passed away peacefully with family present after enduring a catastrophic cardiac arrest.” The "Party Up (Up in Here)’" hitmaker, whose real name was Earl Simmons, died days after enduring an apparent drug overdose.

According to TMZ, the rapper endured a clear overdose on Friday, April 2 at around 11 p.m. The New York native was hurried to a hospital in White Plains where he was set within the intensive care unit with "some brain activity," the outlet previously detailed. One anonymous source at the time claimed he was in a "vegetative state."

According to reports, his most recent stint in rehab came in 2019 after he completed a one-year jail sentence for tax avoidance. At the time, Simmons said the rehab stint did not take after a backslide. Instead, he said it was a preventative measure as he dreaded his temptations would lead to one.

He rose to fame and became a rap sensation in the ‘90s. In addition to his success in music, Simmons also appeared in numerous movies, including "Romeo Must Die," "Belly," "Exit Wounds," "Cradle 2 the Grave," "Never Die Alone," "Death Toll," "Boricua’s Bond," "Last Hour," and more.
