US President Biden said all schools should be open this fall

President Biden said Friday that schools should "probably all be open" this fall "based on science and the CDC." The president, who showed up on NBC News' "Today" marking his 100th day in office, included that "there’s not overwhelming proof that there’s much of transmission among these young individuals."

The U.S. is trialing COVID-19 immunizations in children, but only the Pfizer-BioNTech two-dose jab is affirmed for individuals 16 and older. Moderna's and Johnson & Johnson’s vaccines received emergency use authorization for individuals 18 and older.

Pfizer last month reported that a Phase 3 trial including its coronavirus immunization in young people 12 to 15 was found to be safe and 100% successful. In any case, it’s not clear when the FDA would act to expand the EUA.

The company is additionally testing vaccines in children ages 6 months to 11 years old. Moderna has also started testing in kids ages 12 to 17 and said they might anticipate seeing approval for this age group by the fall.
